Girls Smocked Dress, Size 4/ Hand Smocked, Hand Embroidered / A Few Of My Favorite Things
This size 4, OOAK, hand-smocked, hand-embroidered dress is one that every little girl would love to wear! By a process of combining smocking and embroidery, I have created my own version of the classic smocked dress. The diamond-shaped design of the smocking is stitched in white with a few rows of green for accent. Set into the middle of the smocked design is an original scene, composed by me and worked free-hand in both smocking and embroidery stitches. I especially like this combination because it gives a 3-dimensional effect as well as adds various textures and depth, while allowing me to work in the minute detail, (i.e. the rabbit's facial characteristics, or the white tips on the onions,) that I love to do.
